Cloud-based Weather Server Offers Secure, Remote Met Data Monitoring

Columbia Weather Systems is offering its new cloud-based Weather Server free to customers with the Weather MicroServer. Users can view real-time met data from any Internet-enabled device.

Data-based Operational Decisions

Keys Energy Services, a public power utility in Florida, set up the Weather Server in anticipation of Hurricane Irma. The company uses the cloud Weather Server to monitor weather conditions remotely to make key operational decisions – such as work/no work for crew members.

The company has four Orion Weather Stations, whose real-time data can be easily accessed. On a day to day basis, Keys Energy monitors wind speed to determine if workers can safely operate machinery.

Security Solution

The Weather Server is a solution for customers that are unable to upload data (via FTP) to their website or implement port forwarding for the MicroServer in order to access it directly from outside the network. Both of these options are often not available due to limited access to corporate websites and increased security restrictions.

Additional Features

The Weather Server will offer an automatic way to view the weather data on the web without the hassle of designing your own web page.

Multiple weather stations can be networked, with the display including an overview option to view key data points from weather stations simultaneously.

In conjunction, WeatherMaster software offers monitoring, archival, graphing and alarms for a remote weather station connected through the cloud-based Weather Server.
