When operated by an untrained employee, a powered industrial truck, or forklift, can cause serious injury or death to both the operator and bystanders. Because forklifts pose significant dangers, no employee may operate one without training. Retraining is required if an employee has operated a forklift unsafely, has been in an accident or near-accident, has received a poor evaluation, or has been assigned to a new type of forklift.
This interactive online course is designed to meet OSHA's forklift safety training mandate at 29 CFR 1910.178. Students who complete this course will know OSHA's rules and guidelines for the safe operation of forklifts to avoid injury to the operator and others, and to prevent property damage. Also, supervisors can use the provided performance test checklist to road-test forklift operators.
