Roof Access Ladders
OSHA compliant fixed roof access ladders and crossover ladders engineered for safe rooftop access daily.
The Fixed Ladder Cage Rule Change. This one catches facilities off guard, so it is worth stating plainly. OSHA concluded that cages and wells do not reliably stop a fall — a falling worker can drop the full height inside a cage. The rule was rewritten around active protection instead.
**Fixed ladders over 24 feet must have a ladder safety system or a personal fall arrest system.
**New ladders installed after the rule took effect must comply immediately; a cage does not satisfy it.
**Existing caged ladders must be retrofitted by the phase-out deadline.
**Any replacement of a ladder or ladder section triggers full compliance for that ladder.
If you are not sure where your ladders stand, an inspection documents every one and tells you which need retrofitting and in what order.
We deliver OSHA-compliant fixed roof access ladders and roof crossover ladders built to the current rule, including the ladder safety system requirement for climbs over 24 feet under 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(9). We retrofit your existing ladders with vertical cable or rigid-rail ladder safety systems, extend side rails to at least 42 inches, correct landing areas with self-closing gates and guardrail, and replace ladders that are out of spec or corroded. When you’re unsure where you stand on the cage phase-out, our inspections document every ladder, prioritize retrofits, and ensure any new or replaced sections meet full compliance. For your architects and engineers, we provide free specifications and instant-access REVIT files (no login), and we can supply-only or deliver turnkey installation through our in-house team serving all 50 states (now also Canada). Backed by nationwide engineering, installation, and inspection services—and fast responses with three touch points within 36 hours—we package your ladder, extensions, landings, and rooftop protections as one coordinated solution.
